Story:

Music producer and DJ, Slot-A, found his love for beats during a multimedia class in high school in 2000. Skipping class to have timed-beat making competitions at a friend’s house; he became obsessed with beats. Wanting to be around music as much as he can, Slot, dual enrolled into a local community college to learn midi and worked at FYE to get discounts on albums to thumb through the credits.

Influenced by the likes of J Dilla, Kashif, Lee Scratch Perry, Dj Assault & The Neptunes, Slot-A’s sound is dance-floor oriented but soulful. Producing for the likes of Add-2, Amanda Seales, Phat Kat & Skyzoo and now Jamila Wood’s new single “Giovanni,” Slot-A wide in range and timbre.

After years of honing Slot’s production and remix skills, a chance invite to see North Coast Music Festival by his wife to be changed his outlook forever. Evolving from being a producer into a DJ, opening for the likes of Ghostface Killah, Tech 9, Lunice and Djing for the legendary Rakim at Park West in Chicago. Slot-A works endlessly on creating open-format sets. Infusing everything from Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk, Nu-Disco and latin rhythms into his sets to create a one of a kind experience.
